Meaning of Life..

Yesterday a documentary about the James Webb Space Telescope caught my attention. The magnificent telescope is almost three storeys in height, it is both aesthetically pleasing and the mission assigned to it is just as fitting. Nevertheless, one of the leaders of that project when presented with the first ever picture taken by the telescope questioned something that made me feel really sad for him.

During the interview when he first saw the image of the deep fields, he said it made him wonder what the purpose of his life was in this vast grandeur that we observe. It surprised me that a man who is well educated and has a reputable post would be puzzled by the most basic and fundamental question that even an uneducated poor person would ask, what is the purpose of life?

Similarly, another documentary about the men that had the opportunity to visit the space said, when they saw the earth in the vast emptiness of the space, thriving and full of life they just knew that there was a mighty being -- a God! who looked after the whole world. All the splendor that this universe showcases comes from this God who holds all the strings of this universe. The day God knelt on the ground he made in Adam a companion, a friend, a child which he loved more than the life of his own son. The purpose of our life today is to surrender ourselves to God, to love him with all our hearts, and to obey his word. We are a world that was lost but through Jesus we are saved, through his love we are made new. The human heart longs for a love that lasts forever, every action we take good or bad is at the root of everything related to our cry for this eternal love. The void in our hearts can never be filled with anything else other than the love of God. Every human questions the meaning of life at some point in their lives yet the answer has already been given to us. Let's hope and pray that all of us seek the LORD diligently and be blessed by his presence. Amen!
